screenings4u DOT Consortia - PHMSA: Employers managing pipeline facilities under parts 192, 193, or 195 are mandated to conduct drug and alcohol testing for covered employees. Each operator or employer must have a documented anti-drug plan that complies with the requirements specified in this section and the DOT Procedures. This plan should align with the standards established in sections 199.101 for the Anti-drug plan and 199.202 for the Alcohol misuse plan. Random testing must be implemented using a scientifically valid method to ensure that all covered or safety-sensitive employees have an equal opportunity of being selected for testing. Regulated employees include: Positions Involving Operation of Vehicles or Equipment: Employees who operate vehicles or heavy machinery that could pose a risk to themselves or others are considered safety-sensitive. Pipeline Facility Duties: Workers involved in the direct operation, maintenance, or repair of pipeline facilities are considered safety-sensitive due to the critical nature of their roles. Emergency Response Personnel: Employees responsible for responding to pipeline incidents are classified as safety-sensitive due to the urgent and potentially hazardous nature of their work. Safety Oversight Roles: Individuals who oversee safety protocols and compliance for pipeline operations are considered safety-sensitive, as their work directly affects workplace safety. Control Room Operators: Employees who manage or monitor pipeline control systems are considered safety-sensitive because they are responsible for maintaining safe operations and responding to anomalies. The current rate for PHMSA random drug and alcohol testing is: 50% of regulated employees must be tested You will receive a DOT Consortium Certificate at your email.
