DOT Consortia - FMCSA
Random drug and alcohol program
Service Description
screenings4u DOT Consortia - FMCSA: Employers subject to 49 CFR Part 382.305 must establish a random drug and alcohol testing program. This requirement applies to all safety-sensitive employees, including CDL drivers, who must undergo random testing throughout the year. If an employer operates as a sole driver and is not leased to a motor carrier, they are still required to implement a random testing program that includes at least two covered employees as part of a consortium or random testing pool. Regulated employees include: Commercial Drivers: Employees who operate commercial motor vehicles (CMVs), such as CDL drivers, are considered safety-sensitive due to the responsibilities involved in transporting goods and passengers. Maintenance Personnel: Employees involved in the maintenance, repair, or inspection of CMVs are safety-sensitive because their work directly affects vehicle safety and performance. Supervisors of Drivers: Individuals who supervise or manage drivers are also considered safety-sensitive, as they are responsible for ensuring compliance with safety regulations and driver performance. Dispatchers: Employees who manage or dispatch drivers may be deemed safety-sensitive, as their decisions can affect driver safety and operational efficiency. Bus Operators: Employees who operate vehicles that transport passengers, such as school buses or public transport buses, are classified as safety-sensitive due to the potential risks of carrying passengers. The current FMCSA random drug and alcohol testing rates are as follows: 50% of the average number of driver positions for Controlled Substances must be tested 10% of the average number of driver positions for Breath Alcohol Testing (BAT) must be tested You will receive a DOT Consortium Certificate at your email.
