DOT Consortium - FRA
Random drug and alcohol program
Service Description
Every employer regulated by the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) under 49 CFR Parts 219.601 and 219.607 must make every effort to implement a random testing program that ensures employees performing regulated services are aware they may be called for a random test without prior notice at any time while on duty. Additionally, as mandated by sections 219.603 through 219.609, each railroad must submit a random testing plan to the FRA for approval that complies with the specified regulations before initiating random testing. This plan must encompass all safety-sensitive regulated employees, as defined in 219.5. Regulated employees include: Locomotive engineers Trainmen and conductors Switchmen and locomotive hostlers/helpers Utility employees Signalmen Operators Train dispatchers Moreover, it also includes individuals who perform maintenance-of-way or roadway worker functions (as outlined in 49 CFR Part 214). These individuals, whether employees or contractors of a railroad, have the potential to interfere with the track and carry out regulated functions such as inspecting, constructing, maintaining, or repairing railroad tracks, bridges, roadway systems, signals and communications systems, electric traction systems, roadway facilities, or machinery near the tracks. This group also includes flagmen and watchmen/lookouts. The current rate for FAA random drug and alcohol testing is: Drug 25% - Covered Service 25% - Maintenance of Way 50% - Mechanical Alcohol 10% - Covered Service 10% - Maintenance of Way 25% - Mechanical You will receive a DOT Consortium Certificate at your email. If you order a drug test, you will receive an authorization form to your email. You may select any date and time, and we will reach out to you to confirm.
